At My Summer Flute Camp

 

2024 Flute Camp

For students who are entering 7th through 12th grade, or for students who have at least 1 year of experience from private lessons.

Date:  June 10th - 14th, 2024

Time: 9:00am-1:00pm

Price: $500

 

Concert: Friday, June 14th 12:00pm

Flute Camp Overview:

This camp is for any middle school student or high school student looking for a fun camp experience that focuses on learning higher level techniques, flute ensemble experience and new practice exercises to prepare you to be the best flutist you can be! It's like high school marching band camp but with just flutes! At the end of the week, we will put on a concert and invite families to come enjoy!

 

Students will participate in classes in which they learn about:

  • Better/Stronger breathing technique
  • ​
  • ​Jazz Improv
  • ​
  • Sight Reading Tips and Tricks
  • New and fun ways to explore scales
  • The ability to create faster, more controlled fingers
  • Personalized one-on-one instruction
  • A "Flute Band" Experience with a performance!
  • Brain Breaks and Games  
  • Yummy lunches and snacks

Useful Resources

  • Students will be given lots of resources to take home with practice tips, exercises and music that they can use as an excellent resource for practicing all year long!

What To Expect:

  • Students are responsible for bringing their instrument every day. If they forget, we do have a loaner instruments available for $25 a day. 
  • The camp will provide snacks, music, folders, pencils, all materials for activities/games as well as name tags and notebooks.
  • Students should bring their own labeled water bottle and sun screen for outdoor activities/games.
  • Please note: Parents are responsible for insurance for students, both personal and property. Our camp is not responsible for personal injury and/or instrument damage. You will be asked to sign a waiver form for this in order for your child to participate.

Daily Schedule:

9:00 - 9:30 Ice-Breaker Game/Warm Ups

9:30 - 10:30 Large Group Rehearsal 

10:30 - 11:00  Duet/Trio Time

11:00 - 11:15  Break/Snack 

11:15 - 12:00  Jammin' with Ms. Jenna

Topics: Performance Anxiety Strategies, Playing with Emotion, Vibrato, Jazz Jam Circle, Honor Band Prep

12:00 - 12:30 Private and Group Lesson Time

12:30 - 1:00 Wrap up/Review and Camp Game

Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm daily

Please note: On Friday the 14th, parents are invited to watch the students perform their recital pieces at 12:00pm

 

Price: $500 for the week (this includes payment for the space, instructors, music, folders, and food)

 

*Space is limited to 20 participants

Once you have filled out the form, you will need to pay a $100 deposit of the tuition to secure a spot. This portion is non-refundable.

 

The full balance needs to be paid on or before the first day of camp, June 10th
